Santana Morris is a passionate educator who strongly believes that through personal conviction for change, passion, experience, and a love for children: breed excellence. She taught at the primary school level for a few years and held a portfolio as a Supervisor for her department.
Her passion for leadership and team building led her to the implementation of strategic tactics to achieve her set goals while being proactive.
Santana contributes to nation building and leadership through various community groups and projects. Her involvements enabled her to make invaluable contributions to community development.
At the various club levels, she was involved in many community projects, for example, feeding programmes, female empowerment sessions, literacy awareness sessions, parent seminars, literacy campaigns, youth empowerment sessions, raising funds for persons living with HIV/AIDS, and caring for the environment.
Her passion for literacy led her to establish the Jamaica Intensive Reading Clinic. Being the Executive Director, she led a team of over 100 volunteers to organise and implement and all Island Summer Reading Camp across Jamaica; over 2000 children benefited from this programme.
Santana is currently planning the second staging of the Jamaica Intensive Reading Clinic with a team of 30 Supervisors and over 600 volunteers.
Santana strongly believes in giving back to her community and to add to nation building. That said, she volunteered to manage the secretariat that planned the 10,000 men and their families march.
She played a significant role in planning the logistics and execution of the plans and was awarded for a job well done. This programme was designed to bring peace to the communities of St. James that were experiencing a high rate of murders.
Santana is a member of the Baptist World Alliance Advisory Board to the Communications Committee located in Washington DC and is the youngest to have ever been selected. She has assisted in the planning and execution of the Caribbean segment for the Baptist World Alliance congress which was held in Durban, South Africa in July 2015 and was commended for her continued excellence.
She is a board member at the Melody Home for Girls in Montego Bay, St. James. Santana also managed to plan conferences in Guyana, South Africa, Barbados, Grenada through the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship and is currently planning her fifth conference to be held in Bahamas in October of this year.
With said, she was able to visit Haiti, days after the devastation of Hurricane Matthew to offer assistance to persons who were affected by this natural disaster. She contributes to youth development as a Guest Speaker at youth empowerment sessions in various countries.
