Michelle Thomas epitomizes a strong black woman etched in creativity and diversity. She is a community leader and activist in Jamaica and regionally for over four years. She has lead several advocacy campaigns across the island of Jamaica and has also managed projects such as ARTREACH and HERSTORY which impacted over 2500 young caribbean people. ARTREACH is a project geared towards targeting young people with disabilities (marginalize youths) in state care facilities using the arts whilst Herstory seeks to empower women who have been abused, and stigmatized based on their HIV/AIDs Status, using the creative and performing Arts as a therapeutic work in process.

As project coordinator for these projects, Michelle Thomas was able to organize and prioritize tasks effectively, whilst monitoring the project outcomes to meet the deadlines set. As it relates to the execution of the project outputs, her passion for projects to foster social change inspired Michelle Thomas to form the No Crime Movement. This movement seeks to achieve Sustainable Development Goal #16 which focuses on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions.

Michelle Thomas currently sits on the Commonwealth Youth Council as Special Interest Chair.
