Media enthusiast, Karmelisha Megan Alexander, has attained her bachelors in communications with a minor in peace and conflict studies at SUNY Cortland. Karmelisha is recognized as a driven, committed professional who is eager to learn new concepts and embraces challenges as much as success. Karmelisha has proven to have that rare combination of talent, work ethic, and fearlessness that successful media makers have at the core of their personalities. 

Fueled by the desire to delve further into innovative tactics and strategies for social change, Karmelisha became involved in campus-wide events at SUNY Cortland that included the Black Afro Justice March, Cortland’s first Town Hall meeting addressing racial issues on college campuses, and the Multicultural Life and Diversity (MLDO) conference. In 2016 she was appointed Black Student Union President and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee liaison. During her presidency, Karmelisha organized a workshop for SUNY Cortland's Multi-Cultural Life and Diversity Conference, which focused on the African Diaspora and the relationships amongst African, African American, and Caribbean people.

During the Fall Semester of her senior year, Karmelisha participated in a study abroad program in Costa Rica, where she took courses focused on immigration, peace and democracy, sustainability, and Afro Caribbean studies. She focused her research on the native Caribbean Limonese people of Costa Rica as well as feminism throughout the Caribbean.

Upon completing her  Undergraduate studies, Karmelisha created an online zine Karma Mag. Karma Mag is a curated publication and platform for all womyn to feel empowered. It was created to portray the beauty in our unique aspects of womynhood. Through it's content Karma Mag highlights the stories or womyn cross-culturally with a focus on intersectional feminism.
