Ja'Nel Edens is a Belizean American and international development professional with a strong dedication to the Caribbean and African Diaspora community. She is a lover of languages, including Spanish, French, and Malagasy, and cultures, including Caribbean, African, Latin American, and African-American. She has served as a Peace Corps TEFL Education Volunteer in Madagascar for two years. There, she spearheaded several impactful initiatives, including an English Teacher Training and a Girls House Life Skills Development Workshop.

Since 2015, Ja'Nel has been serving as an Ambassador for Girls Going Global (GCC), a 501c (3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering inner city girls through international travel and cultural exchange. GCC is trying to position African-Americans to be more active in international affairs and to increase their involvement in the mid-high-level decision-making processes that create the foreign policies that shape our world. Recently, she hosted a fundraising social to raise funds for GCC's upcoming fourth international trip to Belize. In July 2016, fourteen young girls (ages 13-17) from Philadelphia and Atlanta will join GGG to travel to Belize for an educational, service, and personal development adventure. Ja'Nel has proven she is an Emerging Leader and has great potential in the future to make an even greater impact in the Caribbean American community.
