Dnika Joseph is originally from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, and claims New Jersey as her American home. Dnika joined BAO four years ago.

She brought with her 15 years of HIV experience ranging from volunteering in Trinidad and at her college, interning with the CDC, and research training in Ghana. Dnika has her Bachelor’s in Biology from Berry College; her Masters of Public Health from UAB, along with a Masters of Science in Biomedical and Health Sciences, and a certificate in Global Health Studies.

Even with all these degrees, she is still planning on completing her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, along with her DrPH.

Dnika is the Game Changer Team Lead at BAO. Game Changer is a multi-agency CDC-funded demonstration project that prioritizes men who have sex with men of color (MSMOC).

Dnika says her favorite thing about BAO is the fact that we are a family who is not afraid to learn from, support, and uplift one another. When Dnika is not at work, you can find her at the UAB Cell Development lab, volunteering with one of the many Junior Boards she sits on, working her catering job, or asleep on her couch with her fur-babies.

Important to note that during her twenties Dnika raised her brother. She assumed guardianship over him when he was 11 after losing her mother to cancer. She worked 2 and 3 jobs, was an active member of the Central AL Caribbean Association, American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald and others. She did so while raising a teenager during her 20s. He is now 18 and a high school graduate who plans to pursue an education in computer animation.
