Anna Bethune is the co-founder of Brave Initiatives, a non-profit designed to educate and empower future civic and tech leaders. Brave Initiative's mission is to create social impact through design-thinking and tech empowerment. Her work exposes high school girls to pertinent skills that they can use to pursue a STEM career. She encourages young ladies to see themselves as capable coders while tuning them into community issues that they might normally ignore or accept as status quo. Her objective is to motivate young women to be the change they want to see in the world.

In addition to running Brave Initiatives with her two co-founders, Anna is a 3rd year Phd student in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. She currently studies youth civic engagement, civic tech, and design-thinking education. Anna is quickly building an extensive knowledge base and skill set to develop edu-tech and education projects that develop technology and civic skills in the Caribbean. As a Jamaican resident, Anna is particularly interested in addressing systemic problems such as low access to quality to education in Jamaica.

Prior to attending Northwestern, Anna worked as an Economics Researcher to Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Edward Seaga. She received a BA in Economics from Stanford University and worked as a program coordinator at a start-up in Silicon Valley.
